Weve all heard it before. That a problem is simply a solution in disguise. Well, Luke Zoontjens is setting about unmasking the nefarious car exhaust. A Postgraduate Researcher at The University of Adelaides School of Mechanical Engineering, he is working on the following crazy concept. It seems he can capture heat from mufflers and use this to create something called ...... high-amplitude sound waves. These in turn bounce about in metal tubes making cold spots (very technical term that!) which you can pass air over, to cool a cars interior. According to Luke this will reduce fuel usage and environmental pollution. Who said going to Uni was just one long party? If you want to stop Luke from heading off to the pub you could hassle him for more info via: luke.zoontjens@mecheng.adelaide.edu.au. Via :: ABC News Online [by WM]
