Ok so I got my bill for the start of the new year and My insurance went up from $52 to $149.50 a MONTH. I have had the same insureance for 8 years and at one point I had 5 different policies with this place.

Last year I got into an acceident and totaled my truck. It would ahve been deemed weather related if I had not touched another vehicle. that being said I was ready for it to go up a little bit but not triple!!!

So I'm now looking to get a new insurance agent b/c I'm not paying that no way no how.

Just thought I'd vent and see if anyone else has had something like this happen to them.

That seems a bit uncalled for. I would call them and tell them to put it back down.

Good thing you don't live in NJ There is no cap here they can charge whatever they want and raise it whenever they want. I heard NJ rates are gonna raise drastically within the next year. This state is really the armpit of america and I'm ready to leave.

With my insurance co. there is a set amount that your rate will increase based a certain percentage/dollar value. Doesn't really matter what the reason is its a set standard.

Wow... that sux. 8yrs, you would think they would try to keep a loyal customer

I am in good hands, with Allstate. Sorry, that was a bit lame. When I got my original policy (10+ yrs ago) everybody said I was nuts, they are too expensive. I thought they were reasonable and have since - no joke - switched vehicles probably 15 times, TOTALED my wife's SUV, her old SUV was stolen, and we had the roof on our home replaced due to wind damage. No increases. We do prob pay a little more upfront, but I think we are covered. No pun intended.

Do you insure other things through them? Usually you can get a pretty decent discount if you insure your house, life, farm etc through them. Also, if you own several vehicles you could get a fleet policy. Also, if you pay yearly or bi-yearly you generally get a discount as well.

Yep. Allstate here as well.

Allstate here too. I have a clean driving record (14 years and counting - touches wood) and I pay $93 per month. in Ontario, this is pretty good. I have friends that pay considerably more, but they have some blemishes on their driving record I think.

I would shop around, let them know you are going to switch and they will probably lower the rate considerably.

good luck
