Hey guys,

I just finished cycling a 37 gallon at home, I'm running 2 AC70s on it.

I use foam, carbon, and bio media in each as comes standard with each filter. It just cleared up after the initial bacteria bloom, but there's definitely a green tint to the water. There is visible algae growing as well, however, I've got an enthusiastic pleco that takes care of that stuff.

I remember reading something about carbon releasing phosphates into the water, causing floating algae and all that crap. The tank is not recieving any direct sunlight, although the room does get a certain amount of natural, indirect sun.

Would this be related in any way to the carbon inserts, and if so, would I replace the carbon inserts with another layer of foam or more bio-media?

Thanks!

I don't know if this will answer your question but what the heck....I've been operating AC's for over 5 years now...Formally known as the AC500, I have own 2 of these...What some us do is cut the foam down in half from left to right, this allows more media room...Fill the rest up with bio-media, preferably those rings....I do not know the size of your tank but adding a canister to the AC combination is very common...When you this, simply turn your AC's into mechanical filters and allow the canister to focus on bio-filtration...
