Hi everyone. I have a quick question. I run Seachem Purigen in my filters. I know that there is some speculation that carbon can cause HTH disease in Oscars though not proven. I know Purigen is not Carbon but it performs allot of the same functions. So my question, do you folks feel that the Purigen could pose any risk to the Oscars? The theory is that the carbon removes some elimates in the water the oscars may need for health? (again this is not proven). Then the last question is Purigen is not really Carbon but performs many of the same functions that carbon does plus some? Any Risk you think?

I run 400ml of purigen in my big tank with Oscar's and there are no ill effects.

...you should be fine

Thanks, I've run the Purigen for awhile and like Seachem products seem to do a good job even though I think the pond matrix are just rocks :). I also knew that the Purigen was not carbon but performs many of its functions. I'm kinda in Oscars 101 and they seem to mention that problem allot, though they have no proof. Also have a C530 filled with nothing but matrix in all four trays except 1 fiber pad at the top so I hope I have the Bio covered.
