Hi All,

My tank is testing out very well but has a very slight yellow tint to the water, I beleive it is a little bit of tanins from driftwood in there.

Is carbon safe to use in ray tanks? Is the standard 1 cup/100 gallons I use in my SW tanks a fine dose?

I will likely order some purigen for a longer term solution just wanted to check on the carbon since I have a couple gallons of that here already.

Thanks!

I use carbon to pre-filter my water before I do a water change with no problems. I have a 45 gallon barrel that I fill, heat and aerate for a day before I do a water change. I'm on well water and have a slight odor to the water so I use carbon to remove it. No problem with the rays - even have them breeding.

Good point, I have carbon block filters on my drip system for the water entering the tank. Did not even think about that.
