im sure this is a silly question but i was wondering if i could put some carbon in my emperor 400 by just dumpin some in the bottom the filter,...my water is gettin cloudy and i just did a water change yesterday,..thanks

u COULD do that but how u gonna clean it out after ???? is the carbon in the filter cartidges not enough for you ??? if not then what i would do is get a small filter sack and put the carbon in that so when u want it out u don't have to take the filter off the tank

i think if u put all four filters in it that should be enough carbon for ya.. also what kind of tank u got how big and whats in it ?

How often do you do waterchanges and what size tank and what fish do you have? You shouldn't have to use carbon. Maybe you should just do more waterchanges.

i have a 85 gallon and a canister filter came with it,..some no name brand and i went to clean it out and when i put it back together it spit so much stuff outta the spray bar and it didnt seem to be sucking very good or keeping the tank clean so i had the 400 lying around and put that on and i have filters with the carbon in them but lately it seems the water is very clear,..i do water changes like every other day 50% or more but i live about a half hour away from any fish supplies so i think my carbon is alittle wore out,..i have mostly small africans with a few 4-5 inchers in there,...thanks for the help guys

how long have the filters been in the 400 ? i know that i have to change the filters in my 350Bs about every 14 days and i got two 350Bs and a FX5 on my 125gal
