I have some WC colombian cardinals, and I'd like to breed them to get some f1's to the local club. (I'd also like to get their numbers back up to a reasonable one, since I had 12 and 1 jumped, leaving 11, which is a horrible number in my opinion just for OCD sake.)
Is there anything special I need to do for cardinals that would be different from other small tetra or minnow type egg scatterers like them? If not I will proceed as usual with the usual feed them alot, put them in a small tank with a mop and turn the lights off.

They’re group spawners in the wild, so you may want to spawn them together rather than try to pick out a sexed pair. Darkness is particularly important for cardinals. Keep it very dim even during the day. And soft acidic water, as indicated above.
