Caribe sea black sand

ok so idk if im cleaning my tank good enough but when i do a water change i place the vac close enough to lift some poop but i can never get it all so i was wondering if anyone has any tips or if im cleanin it good enough

I have the same problem since I switched to sand.The thing I do is swirl the tube till it lifts it up and quickly flip the tube and let it float down.I end up losing sand every water change but I haven't found another way yet.
