I bought 60 lb. Of this for my 55gal and I am not getting my Africans until next wed. I read that its very cloudy once you add it for a day so I'd like to go ahead and add it all now so it will be clear (the bag says not to wash it) and my question is if I add it now and the tank has no fish until wed night..will the bacteria on the sand die off before I get my fish? Thanks

It has water in the bag and yes it claims to have bacteria in it

Oh yeah, that stuff. I would wash the crap out if it. My guess is it's dirty and kick starts a cycle with ammonia. Even if it does have some sort of bottled beneficial bacteria in it, I seriously doubt it will be enough to fully cycle your tank. Buy some Seachem Stability if you want to cycle with fish.

I have sand in my tank but the only thing that you have to worry about is that the fish will pick it up and spit it out, but i have a Labidochromis caeruleus and she takes the sand and spits it into my fluvo filter and it backs it but sand works but make sure the filter pipe isn't close to the sand so they cant spit it into the filter.
