Does anybody have any experience with this sand? We've only seen it in pictures online, but we're considering ordering it for our new 300 gallon Fly River Turtle tank. Is it more coarse than most sands? Anybody have it in their tanks? Photos? We like the fact that it buffers the pH and has nice coloring to it.

Thanks.

Yes. The buffering is a BIG key for selecting this particular sand, but we were also interested because of the larger size particles and the different coloring.

Should work well then! Do you have the turtle already? Love those guys.

Yep. We've had our FRT since 2001. We'll post some pics of Ra, when we get the 300 set up. It's been awhile since we measured and weighed him, so we need to do that, too.

That's pretty much the only species of turtle I'd ever consider keeping.

We've kept quite a few different turtles in the past, but not requiring a basking platform is one MAJOR positive, IMHO, for housing FRT's. I never did like seeing the water line on our turtle tanks. And, our FRT has NEVER bothered the fish in his tank.

I thought I would never use "sand" in a FW tank, but after doing a lot of research, mostly here, I chose the same sand for my africans. I love the stuff. I would think for a turtle tank it would be great because "poop" sits on the top of the sand so its easy to clean.

Hey, post some pics if you can! We wanna see.
