i am getting some wc geophagus red head tapajos and was wondering if there was any difference in caring for them compared to f1. i have a couple f1 geos but is there a difference in care between the two?

I don't think so, as long as the WCs are parasite-free. I think John has had them for long enough that you don't have to worry about it.
