Hi Everyone,
I was looking into trying something new and want to start my first 120 Gallon African Cichlid tank. I understand a majority of African Cichlids are herbivores but I wanted to try and make an agressive & carnivorous African Cichlid tank. Has anyone ever approached this kind of tank before? Can any one tell me about their personal experiences and even some species of fish they would recommend?

Cichlids will eat any thing. I have a mixture of Africans in my tank with my growing peacock bass and when I drop in rosy reds all my Africans eat them. I don't know why you would want that tho?

You're most certainly right cichlids will eat just about anything but depending on what species of cichlid they are it may or may not be good for them. Considering a majority of cichlids are herbivores high amounts of protein can be pretty harmful and cause bloating which will eventually lead to death. How long have you had your cichlids for and if you don't mind me asking what species are they?

I have two blue dolphin moori 2 yellow labs 2 red jewel and 2 kenyis all I've had around 8-9 month. feeders are not their staple diet but they eat them about twice a week and I use cichlid attack twice a day and blood worms every other day. I have seen amazing growth rate with my cichlids my blue dolphins are a about 5-6 inches I got them from fry.
