Went carp fishing with a friend, inspired by Stotty and DanDanUK. "We" caught a handful of fish over two days, this was "my" only fish. Apparently 60lb test is just not ideal for carp.

I use like 30lb braided, seems to work fine. Water is very murky though.
wish i could i like the sensitivity of 30 better but where we go the carp have figured out the cement barriers and love to drag your line through them uggg

Actually, it might not be the line, it must be the rod I'm using. I am not detecting bites instead of not getting any. The rod is not what I call sensitive. It's a tree trunk with a reel.

lol i use 6 lb mono.... i fish carp from the lake thou.. :D its more fun when u know they can actually snap it

I landed one on 6lb mono. It was about 5lbs. It's not really too much of a challenge if you set the drag right. Just takes longer. The fish I landed today was about 5lbs as well. I will say we get a lot more detected strikes on light gear.

I dunno why everyone insists on using this monster line (30, 40, 60). I've not got anything over 6lb on any of my rods. I think wenching a fish in is no fun. Just my opinion though. Try an ultralight with some 4lb, make it interesting.
