just wondering who here does a lot of carp fishing and if anyone has any tips. my brother and i went fishing on cache creek last friday and he pulled up the biggest carp i've ever seen anybody catch, it broke the line at the hook when we tried to pull it one shore but the damn thing was at least 2 1/2feet long, we thought he was snagged until it came to the surface. we where drifting half pieces of hellgrimites down a pool about half the size of a football field and mostly catching 12"+ pike minnows i think the deepest the water gets is about 8' and there are several sand bars running the length on the pool in the middle with a log near the end and some largish submered rocks at the begining.

Here in England carp fishing is pretty big. I posted a thread on here about my trip to France. Me, my dad and my brother have caught carp up to 25-30lbs.

ive been trying to catch some carp down here in florida, any tips for bait?

from what i've read online, canned sweet corn sounds pretty good. the only time i've ever caught carp without foul hooking them(accidentaly) i was using handlines with sweet corn and when i used all the corn up, some grilled cheese sandwiches rolled into little balls molded around the hook. i also caught some 10"~12" comet goldfish and a 14" rainbow trout.

Corn or dough balls.

I'm actually thinking of trying the Berkley Gulp Corn since it's supposed to smell stronger than the real stuff.

yea i was gonna buy something like that. I did buy another Berkely carp bait but my dog got to it:irked: (don't worry the dogs fine) I would go out and buy another thing of bait but I might as well use whats around the house first. So the corn.... what do you do just sort of skewer individual kernels onto the hook?

thats what i did and what i've heard. apparently you can throw out a handfull of corn around where you're fishing to attract more fish, i'm going to give it a try but i'm not sure if it'll work in a flowing stream.

Throwing it out by hand will work just throw it above where your bait is and it will drift down to the same place. If you get frozen corn from the grocery store its cheaper and lots more than in a tin. Two or three pieces on the hook will be great or try baiting with corn and using a worm.
