We only took a picture of the largest one, the others were much smaller maybe 2-6 lbs. The fish hit on basic nymph patterns, and crayfish imitations the key was to use modified patterns that had much more color then say a typical stone nymph. Also the fish became spooky whenever something started to move so dead drifts were the most effective. Also, its good to choose a fly with a slow sink rate, and we were using floating lines which seemed to be right on. The fish didn't seem to be leader shy, we were using steelhead leaders but if the fish started to get big I don't think you'd have problem with a 2x leader.

I would just like to add one more thing, if you look at the mouth of the fish in the picture you'll notice that it took quite a beating. The fish were tending to take the flies real deep in their mouths and it was originally doing a significant bit of damage to the animals. After this fish we decided to use barbles hooks which worked great, alot less damage to the animals. I would highly recomend barbless hooks when flyfishing for these fish.

wow man that thing is a beast..

I give you 14-15 but I’m tight like that. Never the less a nice fish and on the fly. We cheat hear but you can modify it your self for a fly rod. we take a dog biscuit run a hack saw blade dome it to make a groove. Then super glue a dog biscuit on it. Throw a few out (the floating mixer type) then when they get a taste for them cast the one with the hook in out and hold on to your socks.

you can also use a 10mm cork ball with a size 12 hook glue it on the same throw out free ones they go mad throw out cork ball sorted:D

I've fished them with a fly rod by taking a half of a cotton ball, wind it to a number 12 hook, put flotant on it like mad. Use when the cottonwood seed are floating down.

I suppose a cigarette filter cut in half may work also.
