Hi all,
I have a carpinitis that will not eat. I've had him for a week and a half. Before i got him he lived in a 37 gallon tall divided with another carp and a syno cat. I asked the guy I got him from what he fed him and he said F.D. krill presoaked. He also said that he never ate from the top, and he had him since he was 1" now he's 6".

So now he's in a 55 gallon with a 5" albino pleco with min. decor, just like his tank was before. water quality is superb, ph 7.5 ammo
0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5ppm temp 80*F.

I've tried Frozen(every flavor imaginable), nls, hikcari gold(floating), omega one med. pellets, shrimp pellets, freash shrimp, nightcrawlers, crickets, meal worms, F.D. krill, and still nothing.

I've kept chiclids for right at 20 years now and i've never had a cichlid that wouldn't eat atleast one of these items. I wonder if adding some giant danio's could help him feel more at home, and help him to start eating.

Any suggestions you guys/gals may have will be greatly apreciated.
Thanks,
David

Is there any differance in temp between the twp tanks? You could try bumping the temp up a few degrees and see if that helps. Sometimes it's somthing as simple as that.

Try dog poop.

lol jk

yeah bump up the heat a bit to boost metabolism. Maybe he's just shocked and tensed at the new home.. If not watch out for internal parasite.

thanks for all of the suggestions.
His old tank was at 76*f, so i have already bumped that up a bit.

As for live black worms, he just stares at them like what is this.

I'm about to the point where i'm going to try the dog poop, lord knows i have enough of that in the back yard.

as for guppies, i don't know if i want to risk any kind of problems. the only places that sell guppies have them just jam packed into little tanks along with a lot of dead ones. I would try to raise some my self but i don't think i have time for all of that. it's coming up on two weeks since he ate.

With the parasite issue, i don't think he has any. He has never had white poop and his belly looks normal and healthy. he acts fine other than being spoked all the time.

I am really wondering if dithers might not help him faster than anythng else.

at any rate i'll keep checking and seeing if anyone can come up with a plan on here, and i'll just keep feeding and doing water changes, he's got to eat something eventually right?

You should post a video or pics at least. Obviously something isnt right for him...

Try live blackworms.

Ask and you shall receive. Here are some pics from tonight. Again no luck at feeding time. I tried algae waffer, and night crawler+ some frozen krill.

the two dark pics are without flash. let me know what you think and if there's anything i'm not seeing. by the way he happened to poop and it was dark brown.

Wow he looks nice and healthy. If he pooped brown then he ate something. Just not for you to see.
