Here's an update on my shortbody FH, Rocksteady.
About 3.5"

And here's a couple pics of my 3.5" female Carpinte x Blood Parrot that I bred. Her body color is really brownish/gold, even sort of purple in the stomach area. We'll see what this one turns into. I'd ultimately like to breed it with the FH above.

^^That one's closer to the real color of the fish

It has some really nice finnage from both its mother and father's sides. It should almost have a wrap tail when it grows bigger.

What do you think?

wow rocksteady is looking great. :D

could be a cool mix. i'd honestly wait till she is alot more mature and larger, him as well.

i see her complementing his pearls, finage, and shape. if that gives you any hints on what a offspring might look like.

her face looks extremely pointy right now. so just let her fill in and grow and see for a bit how she might end up looking like. heck she might even fade, or it might not even be a female... haha gl.

Agreed on all counts. I planned on waiting till they were 5-6" before trying anything with the two of them. Her face is really long, which is weird haha nothing like the parents! And you're right, she could definitely still fade! That'd be great! :D

Rocksteady! Love the name cause it fits him so well! Awesome colors on him!

Very nice. I hope to have many varieties soon of BPxCarpintis.

Thanks for the compliments! Texas x BP gives you such a variety of fish, but mostly pearlless grey fish with a black "flowerline." The hard part is that you don't know when or if the fish will fade, and they can be late bloomers, so you have to risk culling ugly babies that might turn out to look great.

i totally agree with this statement. i'll give you a hint tho. usually the faster growing ones i've noticed are the least attractive in my experiences. goota keep tabs on those tiny ones in the batches. :headbang2
