Found a breeder here in the states who has a pair that I just had to get my hands on.

Roughly between 4-5". The female does not have the black blotch on the top fin so I'm hoping for the best.

Worst case scenario is I have 2 high quality males. If so I'll sell one of them if anyone is interested.

Any thoughts?

Great looking pair ya got. Awesome pearling on those 2, easily 10x better then most I find in my area.
These are the pics from breeder. I'm really hesitant on sending someone money I found on craigslist.

I've chatted with him for a few hours thru email and he seems to know what hes talking about.

He said they are small enough to ship next day. I really want this pair. My wife wants to experiment with red texas.

Hes asking 100 plus shipping

Without a black blotch on the top fin, I'm even more hesitant. Does one have any resemblance to a female?

Seems a lil spendy to me but then again I've never bought from a professional breeder before so I wouldn't know. Only ever once ordered fish online about 5 years ago and sadly don't have any of them anymore. Made the classic mistake of mixing Africans with SA and CA. But honestly they do look like great specimens, they seem to have a lot of potential to breed out some immensely pearled hybrids. Personally I'd like to see what ya could get by mixing them with a red terror.

If I only had the space. Looking to get a house with a basement soon. When that happens I'll build my fish room and have every pair I've ever wanted.

Have you seen any red terror hybrids?

Only a handful of hybrids from what I've seen, convict/festae, midas,/festae, dovi/festae, FH/festae, red devil/festae. Seen a few say they had mayan/festae crosses but honestly hard to tell when they are young. Convict/festae seems to be the most common tho but u can mix a convict with almost anything it seems lol

I'd put 2 together that makes sense. So a red green terror?

I personally want to see the green terror species grow huge heads

Well I've seen green terror grow a big kok but don't think I've seen red terrors do the same. Never seen anybody cross the 2 either. Granted they aren't the same fish either, MESOHEROS FESTAE (red terror, Andinoacara rivulatus (green terror). It would be an interesting combo tho.

I'd really like to see a black nasty & red head. Now that would be a pairing..

Didn't realize that. I learned something today. Yay lol

O yeah black nasty with most anything would be cool to see. Especially love how the females look. Wonder what a black nasty/Jaguar cross would look like.

Yeah I always thought they were the same too for the longest time. Red terrors are another cichlid where the female looks best imo.
