The pearling deff looks like that of a carpintis, but it seems to have the coloration of a cyno. It may be a hybrid of the two but it still looks to be quite small so the blue/green coloration may have yet to come in so its hard to tell, nice fish!

those are spawning colors its in right there, so a pic of it in its normal state would help. The pearling is way smaller than most carpintis, so Id go with cyanoguttatus...but there is NO WAY of knowing really if you didnt catch it or buy it form someone reputable that knew and told you what it was.

ya i know you can never really tell. This is new, it reminded me of spawing colors but It is not spawning with anything.
here is another pic

id say cyanoguttatus. looks like one of mine at that same size I have now. there are A LOT of small "spangles" instead of larger ones.

thats funny nick, i just got a texas the other day too, and it was labeled carpintis but i told the guy at the pet store he was wrong  and he gave me one for like 5 bucks instead of the 9 he wanted. mine is really pearly even the fins it almost looks like one of my KML's, i will snap a pic when i get a chance.

thanks, ya i think it is funny when they miss label things. Its actually not mine, but a friends.

P.S. I posted on cams forum of what i am getting, might want to look.

My "carpintis" gets those colors when it is flaring up at another fish. I remember when my other texas bred he would change that color. Im starting to think this could be a mood change thing.
