Do you guys think that i can keep carpintis with electric blue african cichlid? I finally found one in my lfs that is dark blue, but unsure of their compatibility with green texas. Will they dig the eye out of other cichlids..etc?

i know they need a higher pH, i asked the store owner, he said he keeps them around pH7.beginneralex14;3526828; said:i always say keep africans and sa/ca seperate they have diff. needs
food is not a problem, i feed cichlid excel(spirulina based), grand sumo red, and krill with 62% protein. I feed them 3 different foods everyday. The female is peaceful and the male carpintis is dominant, i just added a divider on the 75g.Otherone;3527052; said:So long as the ph is stable - most species of exotic fish can thrieve. The problem lies in the larger territories needed by new world cichlids and the crowding needed by rift lake cichlids. The Ahali although much smaller as adults especially in girth can be every bit as much of a bastard as the Carpintis. However the ahali needs a veggie rich dietary supplement to go along with it's protiens. Supirulina flake works well.
I suppose if you have a large enough tank anything is possible. In smaller tanks under six feet in length - the Carpintis will most likely rid his territory of the ahali. Larger tanks with lengths of 8' - anythings possible.
