I'm building a tank that is 6' x 3' x 2'. I live in an old house where the width of the doors is only about 28". The tank is gonna be for rays so it needs to be wide. Would it be okay to carry a large tank like this sideways (bottom and top will be facing left and right instead of up and down)?

Ideally I would build a tank that couldn't fit through the doors and just live here forever (j/k) but I will probably want to move out someday (in the next 5 years).

My tank is the same dimensions and that how we carried it into the house. Had 6 guys to make it easy on all of us. Was no problem and caused no stress to the tank. So far my favorite tank. ;)

I had a 500g tank because the gf at the time told me the 1 rule was I couldnt knock a wall down. At only 25" tall it fit perfectly inside sideways. No worries just be careful not to hit that big bottom pane on a door knob or anything

This may be a silly/obvious question...but why not build the tank where you will have it set up? Then in 5 years (or whenever you move)...you can deal with moving it (of course dimensions that fit thru doorways).

Who knows, in 5 years:

- the tank may not last
- you will break it down to make way for something else
- you'll lose interest in it
- etc.

Much can happen in 5 years.;)

I will build the tank inside the room, I was wondering if moving it when I move out will be a problem. Glass is really expensive here so this is a big investment, so the tank will be built to last, I definately wont break it down.. :)
