You might need to give a little more information and maybe a picture or two. What do you mean by "break the water" ? What is it doing/not doing ?

its under water i would like the water back in to break the water surface

Its way too low in the water. You should have a "U" shaped tube that brings it back up to the surface. Then you attach the "90" degree elbow followed by the diffuser. It all kind of forms a loop. It kind of acts like a p-trap under a sink and looks like it was designed with back flow in mind.

Almost there. Add the 90 degree elbow from the previous picture that you removed. Then add the piece with the diffuser. You then just need to rotate it all into place. I know it looks completely wrong as you are doing it and you keep second guessing it but it does work. You will then need to add at least 2 of the suction cup holders to keep it all in place.

I tried to find any photos of the set up on line but with no success. just try adding the part I mentioned and rotate until it looks right.
