Cascade 1000 question

I just set mine up the other night and finally got it going, now im curious to know how often I should change everything inside.

I was it 1 time a month! Its all about your stock though! replace the media every 6 months!

I've got one and to be honest, I hate it. It came with my 75 gal. but I plan on replacing it soon. Doesn't filter good at all and is a very poor design.


Not trying to piss anyone off, just an opinion.


I clean mine every two weeks. I lightly rinse the baskets with Bio media in it and replace filter pads too. I by the white/blue polyester from my LFS 3' wide x 10' long cost about $25. A lot cheaper than buying the white filter pads from Cascade. On one cascade, a role that size should last about a year or more.

NOT pissing me off haha I love my fx5s but I have a few cascades! they are cheap!

Cheap. But, i have the 1500, 1200, 1000...i change the media every 6 months, but i wash every other month.
