I have a Cascade 1500 on my 120 (4x2x2). I have the trays set up 1(lowest) sponge/ floss, 2- carbon/floss, 3- carbon/floss, 4 zeolite/floss, 5, zeolite/floss. I keep mostly new worlds and tend to add fish and overstock a little bit. Right now it is the only filter i have on and it seems to be keeping the water fairly clear and the fish seem happy. I will add sponge's and ac 110's if need be but for right now trying to keep it with just the 1500 and water changes.

Question is - What would you place in the trays and in what order for a medium to heavy stock new world set up?

This was sort of answered on my thread about the 1500. Pre Filter on the bottom, Carbon middle and floss up top.

How long have you had the 1500? I have not set mine up just yet, but I have read extensively about it.

I've had it up since the beginning of the year.

I was looking more for specific media suggestions for my set-up - like maybe two trays of sponge and floss, or 4 trays of zeo-carb or a tray or two of bio rings on top - something that might make the most sense for big messy central/south american tank.

My xp4 has 4 trays with a sperater in each making 8.

1st tray-fluval pre filter ceramic media (catches lg waste particles so the filters dont clog as fast) /micron30 pore sponge

2nd tray-micron20 pore sponge/ceramic bio media(ac110 ceramic 2 bags)

3rd tray- another 2 bags of ac110 ceramic bio/huge bag of fluval ceramic bio

4th tray- biozorb chem packet(absorbs toxic chemicals into resins, even if u dont have xp4 u can still buy and use in any filter) /polishing filter pad for micro particles.

I have such clean, crisp and sparkling water, ive taken a drink of it and i swear it taste like purified water!

In my AC110 (same tank 90gal) i have huge brick filter sponge, ac110 ammonia absorb, and a huge media bag OF PEAT! The peat takes the place of carbon, i havent run carbon in forever and its a waste of $ imo.

INVEST IN BIO MEDIA TRUST ME.

1 MECH FILT.
2 BIO FILT.
3 CHEM FILT.

IN THIS TANK I HAVE 5 4-6" HEALTHY, FAT AND GREAT RED BELLY PIRANHA (ONE OF THE DIRTIEST FISH/EATERS!)

I ALSO run a 9watt uvc 220gph and all these combined make such a wonderful habitat for my fish and they LOVE the blackwater!

Just giving advice on what has worked miracles for me
