Hi all, I have a new 55gal tank that I am about to set up. I have an aquaclear 110 and was wondering if I need more and if so which would you chose, the magnum or the cascade.

Also how does $35 sound for a new cascade 700?

Thanks..............rick

Almost forgot, I was planning on having just one oscar in the tank. Maybe a pleco too.

Don't know about he cascade. I would recommend getting another AC110 instead of a magnum 350 though. Especially since you can get the AC110 for 45 bucks plus shipping.

Well, I already have the magnum, it came used with another tank. It is just that I have read some pretty damaing comments here about magnums so I was debating on whether or not to use it. I can get the cascade cheaper than another AC 110. Just wondering............

I have 3 magnums and have been using them for a few years. Never had a problem other than replacing a 62cent oring. If you have it allready i say use it. They are great for mechanical cleaning. And set that ac up for more bio.

I've had some trouble getting magnum 350's to run quietly because there was always air in there somewhere. Since you've already got one, you should just use that and see how it works for you, it may work perfectly. I use several cascades and they've always been foolproof and very quiet. $35 is a good deal for a cascade 700 though so I would get it to use on your next tank ;).

Thanks for all the replies. I will set up the magnum and see how it does.

Thanks...........rick
