I need some information on the casostomus genus of suckers. My questions are:
could they be housed with channel catfish?
Can they be housed in ponds with little water movement?
Do they do anything to benefit the pond?
What species is the easiest to find?

Any information helps, and if you’ve kept them before, please chime in!

Thanks!

Id say prob not the best choice across the board… channels love soft oily chubs and suckers. Easy to crush with their smaller mouth. Probably the main forage for them aside from dead foods beings scavenged. The other thing i think of is y “dirty” the pond with them. I dont think they would serve any beneficial purpose past being a good meal for the channel cats once they get big enough to eat them. Personally id stick to just the koi and channel cats. Keep it clean lol ??… the more u add the less chance u have of having a “nice” sustainable display to enjoy. Just my 2 cents tho ??‍♂️… live and learn as always… dont b afraid to try new things if thats whats u like.

I only caught them in creeks in upstate NY while fishing for trout. Never kept them and know little about how they'd be kept in captivity. Sorry. I think they can be interesting, at least for me, to learn more about them.
