In the water
Seen alot of local fisherman catch their own bait with these nets. Its been along time since I used one and today I tried it lol.

I was hoping to collect some baby longnose gars but ended up with some baby fresh water drums and also some baby striped bass.

I released all of them back. Hoping to collect some baby longnose this season. Its always fun to see what you can catch in a net.

All of these was caught in a smaller creek that fed off the main river.

Btw does anyone on here keep any fw drums post pics if you do.

I have one that I've had and used for years. Its getting a little raggedy and near time for me to get a new one...I use it to catch minnows and sunfish that I use as feeders.

No I haven't kept or seen them.

Interesting looking fish.I wouldn't mind trying one but I'm not sure if they are local..I've certainly never seen one before.

Are there fw and sw drums? I believe they spawn and are raised in fw and move to sw with age. I know the lagoons are loaded with them around hilton head but they are the same species you will find in the ocean. I was told the big ones in the lagoons swim in as babies and cant get through the drains when grown

Drains?....so they are trapped in the lagoons?

Thats what im told. I checked the sg of the lagoon and it was around 1.008 which is very low end brackish but ive seen people pull em out well over 25lbs and heard they are up to 40lbs. The lagoons are connected through drains to eachother and the ocean I guess? Idk but there are big sw fish where they shouldnt be
