It's a sunodontus of some sort

Could be Synodontis multipunctatus.

It'd be nice if it looked more like a jaguar cat. They are nice looking cats but almost never come out of hiding.

I originally wanted a jaguar cat but as you mentioned, someone i know had one and they said they literally never see it because it was always hiding.

I like this guy, he hasnt got the looks of a jag but definitely a better personality. Im just not sure what it is.

It was actually sold to me as a synodotis paradalis - not from a reliable source though.

Not your fault mate, so don't take it personally, please. Just my thoughts.

Very sadly, it is a syno hybrid of this kind: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=696

Sure, a loveable guy but they pollute the hobby according to ALL syno experts, are produced usually in a very inhumane, violent way, are used for dirty marketing practices, and hinder us from studying NATURE.

Have you seen how beautiful is the genuine pardalis? http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=1879

Synodontis sp. hybrid. Sorry I can't be any more help but most of my catfish ID skills are in doradids.

Thanks for the info, I had a sneaky suspicion that he may have been a hybrid. Once I brought him as a pardalis, i did a bit of research on them and could not see many similarities.

On the plus side, generally speaking my misses doesnt really like catfish but she likes this little guy so at least there is one positive!!!

Thanks for your help
