Cat-Proofing 101

I've had cats nearly all my life. However, until recently, I've only adopted adult cats. After I lost my siamese, I adopted 2 young cats from a local shelter (Thelma & Louise). I wasn't prepared for the carnage a couple of young cats can inflict on a home. Apparently, I was in possession of way too many unbroken items for the cat's taste.
One particularly enjoyable game they like is seeing how many DVDs they can knock out of the open racks I have. They progressed from a few a day to several dozen at a time. I had to come up with something since a DVD case on carpet is like stepping on a banana peel. I'm too big to be body surfing through my house on DVD skates.
So, I picked up a couple of cabinets with doors. The cats aren't pleased but, my DVDs are safe once again.

We have 2 of these stands from Target in the family room.

I think the cats aim for them.

Lol, Our cats are always trying to get into somthing. Soon as you cat proof somthing, they move on to somthingelse lol.

Your cats were just using their feline logic.As they knocked the DVD's off the shelf they were most likely thinking to themselves something along the lines of:

"you watch all of these once,if its really good you might watch one 2 or possibly 3 times,other than that the only use they get is when you have people visiting...It would make as much sense for me to collect movie stubs from the theater showing that, indeed, "I have watched this movie".

Heres what we're gonna do,its time to help you organize.When did you watch this one last?have you ever?GONE!

How about this one?watched it once now its down here on the bottom shelf?will it ever be opened again?GONE!

I'm almost positive thats what your cats are trying to tell you,but maybe my inability to comprehend the purpose behind a DVD "collection" has impeded my gift of Cat Whispering........

My kitten broke so many things I stopped buying anything that wasnt made out of plastic or rubber or Titanium.
She's.. bit our shoe laces in half, ate the leaves off all our plants, bit my filter tubing, broke several fragile decorations, gotten kitty paw prints half way up our wall ...
the only thing she hasnt done is pooped or peed outside the litter box. (she's such a good kitty)

Needless to say, she's become an OUTDOOR/indoor cat.

beautiful cats and really beautiful cabinet.. in fact that cabinet is my taste in furniture.. i have been looking for one like that ..beautiful .. I will eventually find one like it for my office.. really keeps things neat.. you have alot of DVD"s..
