I have been trying to get my giraffe cat to eat out of my hands. He lets me pet him, but he's still unsure if my fingers. He only likes to eat pellets and bloodworms, but waits until they sink to the bottom. . I have been able to get my RTC to eat shrimp out of my fingers, but not my Giraffe. Does anyone have any pointers on how to get him to trust me? Or is it more of a patience game? These two guys are my babies, so I will wait as long as I have to. Also, when will the RTC start to develop his personality like everyone talks about? He likes to stay in his log, unless there is shrimp or some other goody, then you hear Jaws music playing as he forages for the yummyness :) He's still fairly young too and only about 6 inches.

Hi the best bit of advice i can give is to starve him for a few days to a week till he is really looking for food and hold some pelets in your hand and give them a good rub to release some smell and see if he will come and take them if that dosant work get him use to eating with your hand in the tank and gradually move your hand closer as he gets use to it being there.

Hope this is some help Dan.

Thanks Dan, I am going to try that tonight. We haven't fed for 2 days, and the Jack is getting a little pissy. Now, is it ok for them to eat a shrimp with the shell on? Or should I de-shell it? For the RTC, I cut the shrimp into chunks, since hes still small, but I kept wondering if it would benefit them nutritionally having the shells and tails still on?

Yeah you can leave the shells on they will digest it and get calcium and minerals from it but you may find they cant smell it as well
