i got 2 pictus cats as a gift and i didnt notice any ich on them when i got them but now it has exploded through my tank and i need some thing to get rid of it i dont realy want to do the temp raise tech cause i also have a albino channelcat and i fear it wold kill it off i have a fiddler crab in the tank it dosnt seem to be affected im setting up another tank to put him in for the treat ment but wold like to treat all my other fish at the same time as the cats just need to know what i can do to cure this that wont kill off the kittys.

I've used salt and heat on tanks that contain P. blochii and P. pictus with no ill effects, only ich being gone. Just keep an eye and don't overdose on the salt

Salt works great, I used it with catfish in the tank and it worked fine.

I've used half-doses of rid-ich for my p. pictus, p. blochii, and clown loaches. Did the job.

while it might work, I still think it is safer to use salt rather than a more harsh chemical even at half strength

Good advice, CA. Do remember to dissolve salt very well as the grains might burn their skin. Two teaspoons per gallon (0.2%) salt solution should be effective enough to eradicate ich. Any lower might potentially create salt resistant strains of ich. Add a teaspoon per gallon of salt first. The second one will follow in the next 12 hours assuming your catfish were able to tolerate it very well.

already started salt and temp cure got the tank up to 82deg so far and aded salt and can see some affects already gona raise it another 2deg and do a water change and hope it gets rid of it they seem to like the salt in the tank
