Hopefully the exclamation point has attracted people to this thread, but...

Has anyone here ever had a catastrophic tank loss? I am talking about Mission Impossible style (you know, they are in that restuarant and Tom Cruise chews his gum and blows it up. Fish pour everywhere all over the street). What was the cause? Did you save your fishies? How much damage was there?

I've had two. Both of them were mysteries.First time I managed to save an orange gourami and a 10" pleco that I bought at 4".About three years later the mystery plague hit again and fish started dropping like flies. But the gourami and pleco were the last to go.I still miss those two fish.

one word...katrina!

A few months back while I was on vacation, I lost 12 exotic plecos. They ranged in value from $40-100 each. Two that I have never been able to replace was my 6" L330 Spotted royal, and my 5" L047 Mango.

Some how my fish made it through about 2 weeks with no power after katrina. I though I was some nasty tanks when I made it back home, but it was all good.

Moving my fish from Mississippi water to Louisiana water killed them all though.

my mom once killed a entire colony of african chichlids, which took 2 out of state tris to like 100 lfs' to find the breeding stock, and then she topped it off with un treated water......
