By the Beach!
So Ive been failing for about a month now trying to catch a black kuli loach from one of my tanks! I wanna put it in another tank so it'll be with its own kind but I'm having a troubles catching it. I'm trying not to freak my other fish out, hence why i havent just torn my tank appart trying to get it. Any strategies or tricks would be greatly appreciated!!!

syphon!!!!

vinyl tubing works great.. get the syphon started into a bucket/tub then just suck the lil bugger out.. just be sure to get either head or tail first..

I just lower water level and use the nets. Are you using sand or gravel? If sand, the kuhli is trickier to catch.

THANKS!!!:headbang2 I have sand sadly but I'll try both methods when I do my WC. I'll try and it with my siphon during the WC or with a net once the water is lower.... I still think its gonna be tricky so are there any more suggestions? Btw I bet this will be a great thing to video tape

starve your fish for a few days then stick some food in a soda bottle and then just wait and watch.... sorta a quick and easy fishtrap.. kuhlis are smart lil buggers so my guess is they could get out of a "normal" soda bottle fishtrap

Flash back! I still remember working at a pet store and having customers ask for a particular Kuhli Loach in a tank of over 100!! :D :screwy::screwy::screwy:

Catching loaches 101:
1. Drain water (just do like a 50% water change)
2. Try and chase said fish to one side - most everyone else will swim to other side to get away from net
3. While most of fish are on the one side, split tank w/ one of the glass tops from tank
4. Net evasive loach
5. Bask in glory

Did this when i moved the 75 gallon into the 125 - had 10 loaches to catch. Took me 15 minutes to catch 1. Once i figured this little trick out, it went way faster.

But there are plenty of Pangio sp. and some were different from the other hence the reason. I'd still pester someone to catch a Pangio doriae out of a shipment of Pangio oblonga and Pangio myersi.

I'll keep yawll posted but the little bugger is camped out in a plastic hollow log :nilly: so it could be a couple of days before i get it out

I got the little bugger!!! :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2I put some blood worms in the tank and when it came out I got the hollow log out and then proceeded to chase it all over the aquarium for like 15mins
