please can I have input on how the easiest to do this without making all the fish too crazy like big balas, tinfoils, black bar silver dollars, I realize i need to get a couple of big nets from walmart and take all the lids off cause he will be moving around alot from one end to the other. How about if I do a 50 percent water change and catch him at that time? probably easier?

Oh I forgot to say he will be going to a public aquarium so dont worry :) hehe

Get the water level as low as you can. The lower the better.

Remove ALL decorations, drift wood and big rocks.

Lay a bucket down on its side at one end (Keep the lid REAL close by.)

Use a net to chase the pacu into the bucket, flip it right, and slam the lid down on it.

Be prepared to get wet! That will be a pissed off fish!

Do NOT transport in that bucket. Just use the bucket to get the fish out of the tank. Transport either in a large tupperware bin or in a camping cooler filled with water.

:clap Well said:D

When I have to remove a fast fish from my big tank I will wait untill after dark when the fish are asleep. They put up almost no resistance so they don't injure themselves.

Very good advice. I was shocked at how wet a 5 inch red zebra got me last night. I can only imagine a fish like this. O boy! fun!
