Hello all, I'm moving my 210 to a new house and was wondering what the easiest and safest way people have found to catch and move an aro. I got a 20in. Black/blue that I'm sure won't be to willing to go easily so any info would be helpful. Thanks

done it with a 24' silver with a strong plastic bag I got from my local fish store. Drain tank water level down to half and use a fish net to slowly force it into the bag but make sure the bag is strong enough or it will pop a hole throw it.

good luck

drain tank to 1/2 depth, remove all objects, use an XXXL heavy duty plastic bag (go ask your LFS for one) and just direct the fish into it.

works perfectly IF thje aro doesnt jump:D
i use this method since seeing it done in aquarama singapore videos!
works well, they can jump around in the bag and no damage at all, they just slide around like a giant hydro slide.

but, make sure you drain the tank water to a low level so no change to fully jump out.
then slowly do it, dont rush it, Make sure you grab the opening shut ASAP.
make sure its a very thick bag, not a garbage back, they are thin, they will make holes on it

Doing this method above you could put the fish in a Rubbermaid to prevent the aro from breaking the bags.

This is truely the best method. Though I had a 26" silver bust through a bag(while still in the tank) that I couldn't even push my thumb through. I would recommend using double bags.

Thank you all for the tips, I'll see how the move goes this weekend.

Use a big cooler for transport after catching. I really like idea of pillow case for fish bigger than nets. Coolers are better than rubbermades, no chance of collapse and handles are better.

I prefer to transport them in big thick bags (black garbage bags work). It's good to quadruple bag them at least because I've actually had them launch out the side of the bags.
They will sometimes knock themselves unconscious or damage their eyes in hard shipping containers.
