Catching catfishes in Suriname trip.

As a few of you know I head out to Suriname for a fishing trip. More in search of lau lau.

Here’s some pictures of myself and my friend and are catches. We even got lucky and caught also in the nets at night many smaller sp. unfortunately, I didn’t manage to photograph all the smaller ones.

We managed a whopping 11 piriaba between us and lost 7. One dorado and 3 red tails.

I’d also like to share the redtail that was caught the week before we arrived at 110lb there was also a 160lb caught Aswell. Never have I seen redtails that big!

First picture shows what happens when you try to use your finger on the reel to slow down a 220lb lau lau. I wasn’t as silly And kept my fingers away from the braid! Lol.

Also lost a massive tarpon, and caught all other sp. an amazing trip. India booked for next year after goonch. So hopefully I’ll have more pictures to share then.

It was great fun. An amazing experience. I wish I’d have took more pictures. I also had to drain the swim bladder of a 250lb piriaba which was a massive task in itself. Managed to get her back down after a hour of trying. (Wasn’t in great shape, swallowed a fishing net) something the guides hadn’t seen before.

They sure pulled back. I thought I caught big fish until I hooked into these. Nothing like having to chase after then in a boat as they are almost emptying the braid off the reels !

Tackle £750 roughly. Had to take your own over.
$400 spending money/ tip for guides.

Expensive. But so worth it. You really feel alive Over there. Plus the nature is unreal 200 milles into then Amazon.
