So I just took my multi colony to the lfs and, shells included, got a sweet $72 store credit...which was promptly spent on supplies, and some new barbs and cories for the now empty and planted 20 gallon tank.

Only problem? I missed a fry. Little sucker apparently wasn't hiding in any of the shells, so now I need to remove -one- multi from a peaceful tank. Already threw two shells in, in hopes that overnight he might hide in one...any other ideas?

Maybe try one of those mantis shrimp traps? I don't know if it will work, but its something worth looking into.

Turn all the lights off to the tank, at night. After a period of darkness, flip all the lights on. All fish will be stunned. Locate the fry and remove him; it will be very easy, if he isn't well-hidden in decor.

It takes fish at least 5 mins to re-awaken/re-alert themselves to an appreciable degree, in my experience

Maybe in some fish, but most of my secretive fish take off a few seconds after I turn the light on.

Do a massive like 95% water change as they lay there on their sides pick out the fry then finish the water change -Anne
