Everywhere you look online most of the trout fishing tips are for fishing streams. I'm fishing a small 60 foot deep lake for rainbows and browns. I go out at night with a lantern On the side of the boat to draw up baitfish and catch a lot of rainbows but id like to get a brown. People in the area say they like to hang out deep in this lake so any tips anyone? Want to try minnows but don't know how I should rig it for deep water or what jigs to use

around here for browns my strategy is very simple, hook 4 minnows on the same hook and a chunk of worm, let it hit the bottom then pull it a good foot off of it and let it chill. your either gonna catch a nice big brown trout or a snapping turtle

In a deep lake you have to find out what depth the fish are at. Best thing is to fish multiple rods with live bait at different depths. Herring work great for bait. Hook through the lips. Once you find the correct depth- game on!

I Live near a huge lake (Tahoe) and the best way to catch browns is to top line with lures. Troll some rapalas or other larger sinking lures 10-20 feet deep, and troll around the edges of the drop offs.

Multiple hooks with bait is illegal in California, so that strategy may be more effective, we just can't use it.

Never mentioned multiple hooks, only multiple rods. One hook and one bait per rod, each bait set at a different depth until you find the fish.

I actually just was talking to an older gentleman at work about fishing browns, its not illegal here in wny but if you use a splitter w/ at least 4 hooks and put live minnows on all of them you will always get em if there there. He says so at least I'm going be trying it soon
