ok so i emptied all the gravel out of my tank yesterday in preparation for the move, when its moved i was planning on going with sand, but last night when i was feeding everyone something occurred to me. right now there is some sand in the bottom of the tank (apparently chips that broke off of the gravel and cant get it out unless i have powerful siphon lol) so i was feeding the fish and the pictuses (picti? lol) were scrounging around for some food that fell to the bottom and some of it had fallen on where there was sand, and it kind of looked like he sucked up some sand when he sucked up the food. is this ok? and is this something i would have to worry about when i fill in the whole bottom with sand? i see that alot of you have your cats on sand substrate so im guessing its not a problem but was just something that occurred to me when i saw this, so thought i would ask you guys on here to see what you had to say

go for it they will either filter it out or spit it

ok great thanks guys just wanted to make sure (im kind of paranoid about stuff like that LOL)

ya...most cats live on sand in the wild anyway so they don't eat it and if it goes in with the food they will sift it out or spit it out as stated...if you have bigger cats just hand feed them then you don't have to worry about that...
