I have a 75 gallon tank with a 10" oscar and two 4" silver dollars. Would a bullhead which is very common in my area, or an eclipse catfish work in my tank?

Personally would add the eclipse although the bullhead may work the temperature may be a concern.

I was a bit nervous about the eclipse catfish because i don't want it to get eaten while young, and i read that they grow slow. So I was thinking i could catch a bull head already at a decent size to keep it from becoming food.

If you decide to try a Bullhead , quarantine it before adding it to your already established aquarium, also treat for parasites. :)

Communities like this are always a gamble but this can be tried. Perhaps the key is to have a plan for when / if this does not work.

Bull headbwould be best the Eclipse very well may be mistaken as food.
