catfish beaten to heck by gar! help!

:nilly: im freaking out! yesterday i notived that my tsn x rtc hybrid was swimming near the top of my tank. i put in my net to move him away from the filter. and noticed he was completely chewed up. his dorsal fin is missing one or two of his whiskers are gone and his tail is half way gone........ any advice???:cry:
 
the catfish is now in a small 10gallon with 2 gouramis. i dont want to lose him! he is xso cool looking and freindly too...........
 
my gar has a catfish/bullhead fedish...yours may aswell...advice wait till the cat is half as long as the gar to mix and they should have issuses...i have had big cats with my gar doing this method...my gar loves to eat baby bullheads...

my 17" fl has gone after my lima at 8", but doesn't at 10-12" cat...has gone after my jurunese at 6" but doesn't at 8"
 
how big is it at the moment? he's gonna need a much bigger tank, i hope you know that...

i had to go and f'n type it didn't i...i take that last part back as there is a chunk of tail skin missing now...so off to the qt/med tank for it...:irked:
 
i know he is gunna need a bigger tank. lol im suposedly getting a 55 in like a week or two. and i have concludid that it was not the gar but a pair of jewel cichlids that terrorize everything in the tank.....

i hope you are getting bigger tanks soon...as you will need an extra 5 on that gallonage for most of the cats life...600gal +

no one knows yet as they haven't been grown out to there full potential yet...most likely bigger then either pure bred...i think 'wetwiskers' has one of the biggest right now since 'necro' got rid of or it died do to the issues he had...if my memory servs me right...i think that they were created for the food aspect and just got transfured into the hobby...
