After reading up on the issues and expected gulper lifespan from thebiggerthebetter , I dont know if I would want to have one.

I am looking at something similar with a possible 75g occupant. I had considered a gulper too until I did some reading...

If an experienced fishkeeper who raised cats in much larger tanks than what I would have available has issues then it makes me think twice. I love the thought of owning one just the fact that their lifespan in aquariums can be short bothers me.

I would love to have one too, but Id rather get something that would be with me 10yrs+. I was talking with a buddy I hadnt seen in years and we were talking fish and at the time he had a Synodontis angelicus that was over 30 years old! Now thats what Im talking about, lol. I want something to pass on to my kids...

Gulper natural life span is not short, it's just that they are a hard fish to keep long term and it is most definitely not a beginner fish.

Nice, I have a group of 9 which I'm trying to grow out a bit more before I put them on any substrate.
