Hello Everyone, Im a novice fish entusiast. I have had fish for 20 yrs but mostly just normal run of the mill stuff.
Mollys, goldfish, bettas, a few Puffer fish, snake heads, small cats and plecos.
I caught a decent sized flathead catfish last summer and it's against the law to release them back in the river here if you catch one, So i dropped it in a bucket n brought it home to fillet. He was alot smaller than I prefer to kill n eat since he was only 15". But after 2 hrs in a bucket and 30 minutes with another bucket on his head during the ride home he was still breathin when we got home, Not uncommon by any means but it made me think. I admired his will and tenacity to live. So I rinsed him off and at the time I had a 29 gallon aquarium that I had dedicated to keeping crayfish and sunnys and creek chubs. So i dropped him the 29 gallon n moved him back n forth for about 20 minutes n waited for him to roll over n die, amazingly he stayed upright n actually lived, so after a week I pulled out my old 75 gallon tank that once had my Bearded dragon in it. Washed it out real good and filled the bottom with River rocks n plastic plants n 2 filters. I tossed him in and the rest is history now. He seems to be doing really well feeding mostly on Night Crawlers and Sunfish and small crawdads during the warmer months, over the winter I had no choice but to use feeders for him which I read in a rtc thread tonight were a bad choice for food, But we have a shop here with larger healthy feeders which I use, so Im hopeful he wont get any parasites or diseases from them.
But after keeping him over the past 6 months I really enjoy having a large pet cat and have since become interested more in the aquarium scene and so here I am. Looking to learn as much as I can from you all here. And I am already gawking n drooling at the rtc x shovelnose hybrids :) I plan on keeping this guy in the 75 for another yr or so then I will be building an outdoor pond for him to live out his life as I am against undersized living conditions of any animals, especially a wild caught one which he is.

So Hello, and thanks for such a cool and informative site. I definitely plan on sticking around a while and sharing lots of pics and updates during my time here
