Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a catfish that Max's out around 12-18inches? Something thats quite thick set/ chunky fish ideally. Tank mates are large cichlids, oscars, texas, dempsy for example.
Cheers.

Since you're in the uk you probably can't get one but if you had access to one I'd say a bullhead (either a black, yellow, or brown). I've had mine for just a bit less than a week and love him already! If you can't get one then I've heard that sun cats have somewhat similar behavior.

I know I can get hold of sun cats, might give on a try if I an get hold of one 6inch plus. Cheers for the input fella. Anyone else?

+1 on the bullhead. They're great fish! You could also try Calophysus macropterus, they get a tad larger than your allotted measurements, but they're quite hardy and relatively available.

Both cats will exhibit lots of personality (i.e. feeding from your hand) of kept in dimly lit aquaria.

I've had one of these in with big cichlids and other cats for years maxed out at around 14\15" fights occasionally but holds its own well with tuff fish , I know its African but its been fine in as pH 7 water no problems
