I'm in the finishiń stages of my 300 gallon plywood tank and wondering how I will stock it. I'm going to have a arowana for sure other then that I'm not sure. I really like the tiger shovelnose cat but it would get to big for my tank, so is there a catfish that looks like a tsn but can live its life in a 300 gal tank. Or other catfish with cool markings.

I believe a lima shovel nose could. someone will correct me if im wrong.

Lima shovelnose have the same body but not really look alike. And they grow much smaller and slower. Might be a problem.

ripsaw and planiceps get way too big for 300 gal for life. That being said you could probably house either one for a few years. They can both get to 4'. Several members on here have tigs over 30", I believe one is over 3'. Also many many pics of juru over the 3' mark in the wild. Seems that most people have difficulties keeping them alive long enough to realize this in a home environment though. There honestly is nothing that looks like a tsn that would fit 300 gal for life. :) Should have went for 500 ;) also with this being said depending on the dimensions of your 300 you could probably house one for a few years very comfy. what does your footprint look like? Say if you had 6' x 4' x 20" that is a 300 gal that would last a single tsn for probably 5+ years if not for life.
