soon to be upgrading to a 300 lifehome for my jardini and his current tankmates. im looking for a couple of new and interesting thingsto add to the tank as well and largeish catfish have been suggested to me. problem is whenever i go looking for catfish i find either ones that are too small or ones that get way too big. so, any suggestions?

Nice thing about whallago, in my experience, is they stay in the middle of the water once they get over a foot long or so. I'm not saying they swim much but at least they don't lay on the bottom

just did a quick read up on them. they get a bit big dont they? planet catfish says they can reach 180cm, and given the size of that mouth id be worried about my aro by the time it hits 3'

I read somewhere they have a smaller cousin so to speak. Mine was maybe 7 years old and 22". Didn't eat as much as other cats but owning one doesn't make me an authority on the topic. I just like their shape and mine was mellow.

oh? would u happen to know the name of the smaller cousin? coz attu seems a bit unmanageable

No and did quick search couldn't find anything. We used to catch yellow bullheads and they real nice if you wanna go small. But I see your dilemma. I just gave a buddy a black nasty and his catfish ate it. We didn't see that coming

hmm the bullheads arent much for colour but their faces are kinda cute. definitely one option

i had a goonch for a while a years or 2 ago. if i could get my hands on a b. Suchus id love to give that a go but im not sure how easy those are to find in more connected places, and pretty much nobody ships to me
