What is a good catfish to put alone in this size tank. When I say alone I mean it would be the only catfish. Something that grows maybe around 8in I was thinking? Preferably something that dosen't hide all day but im flexible with that. Oh and it has to get along with central american cichlids like green terrors.

Any ideas?

Check out some of the Synodontis catfish. They're really pretty outgoing and most are tough enough to deal with cichlids, they live with Africans in the wild.

4 line pim gets a little larger than that but very active and suitable for a 90g but not a 55

synodontis euptera they acually mix eggs with chichlids so chiclids raise them to but after the synodontis babies eat the other baby chiclids

I think your referring to synodontis multipunctatus. Eupterus are riverine cichlids. They don't live in any of the lakes.

I would prefer to get something form south or central america.

basically alot cats can be alone

i know its generic, but a couple pictus would fit all of your criteria (from south america, doesnt hide all day) except you wouldnt wanna just get one.

Pictus are real funny because I get conflicting information about them. Some sources say they only get 6in some say 10in. And some sources say they can be kept in groups of 3 some say a min of 6!

if you dont mind asian suggestion one would be a frogmouth catfish- nice predatory behavior and would be nice to have it predate on the green terror fry if you have a pair.
