So i am going to build an outdoor pond in my garden. the measurements are Length: 7 feet. Width: 5 feet. Depth: 5 feet. So that makes about 1200 gallons.

I live in Iceland and in the winter it can get pretty cold here, up to -10 celcius but the avarage temperature in the coldest month (January) is -0.2 celcius.

I am looking for a catfish that can survive this temperature through the winter. Although in the summer it is avarage in July 11.8 celcius and can get up to 27 celcius the most.

I have already thought of Clarias Batrachus and Silurus Glanis (though i couldnt keep him for long becouse of size). Both these catfish are available.

The pond will have a sump but no constant flow from the house.

What catfish except from the Clarias would you suggest to get for this pond?

No quick answers? (sorry for the early bump).

I need answers, Neo or someone could answer this.

i would put a flathead or channel cat in. but if you want more than one get
bullhead catfish they can live through anything.

The first that came to my mind was a channel cat - but you might also want to look into these other two as well. Good luck! And keep us posted!
