My 180 gallon tank had 1 of each:flowehorn red devil empress cichlid jack Dempsey and 2 convicts. All are about 3 inches. I added two pictus cats and it didn't look pretty. The flowehorn attacked the cats for awhile but is now laying off. Was this a bad idea for a combination? Thanks

Ya woke up to the smaller one dead and eaten on. The bigger one seems to be doing good for now and the cichlids are leaving him alone.

I have jack dempseys with Lima shovelnose and a four line, they do great. I did have a parrot fish that attacked my four line. I would stay away from the flashy silver catfish.

My sun has no issues with my Oscar or JD, even when the JD are spawning, but then he only comes out at night. sail fin has no probs with any of them. but he is as long as the Oscart and bigger than the Jd,s

I still have a synodontis angelicus that went toe to toe with two killer African cichlids a got rid of some time ago. Synodontis are tougher than I even thought , lol :)
