Well i decided i wanted another catfish in my display tank. right now i have a 55 gallon, but this summer thats going to increase to at the very least an 18" wide tank, and hopefully a 2' wide tank.

right now i'm considering either going with a lima shovelnose or a snail, spotted or yellow bullhead.

tankmates would be a senegal, another polypterus, a bellycrawler, a nandus nandus, an oscar (rescue, stopped gowing at 6-7"), a severum, a fourline pictus a fathead minnow (5") and perhaps a few others things but nothing that would really effect what catfish to get.

limas might be ok mine went from 3" to 14" in a year.

"false tig."
i personally think it would be awesome in a display. and cheaper than a tig.:D

ok this weekend i might pick up a lima. if not a lima i'll check out what else they have in terms of kitties.

well that weekend i didn't hit up lincoln, but this weekend i did. no more limas but i couldn't resist one of their nice sun cats.....so i picked up a 3" suncat and right now he's chilling in the 29 till he hits 4-5" then the 55 until this summer when i'm getting the larger tank.

from what i hear they max out at a little under 18" although nobody has ever seen an 18" suncat in home aquaria.

They are awesome cats, wish they had them around here. I use to have one, and they are gorgeous. Don't grow too fast, but can get a descent size on them.

hes pretty shy right now, which i was expecting, but hopefully a nice waterchange and a feeding with some nightcrawlers will bring him out today.

quick question, do you think the sun cat will mind once he is in the 55 since it has no caves or hiding spots? my fourline and senegal both used to hide a lot and i wanted to free up space so i took out almost all decor besides a few rocks and i really like how it looks and the fourline and senegal aren't shy at all now...but will something as shy as the sun cat care?
